Enviromental action and responsibility:

Morning Star Regional Seminary+College take great care in respect to God's creation, the Environment. The college practices organic farming of vegetables and grain, fertilised by the organic manure produced by our vermiculture pits. The outdoor lighting throughout the college, as well as the refectory of the college is done by solar PV power. This is one of the largest implementions of solar technology in Eastern India. Solar water heaters are also to be upgraded to effeciently meet the requirements of the college. Wet garbage from our kitchens are recycled by using it as a supplement to the food for our pigs. The grounds of Morning Star are a No-plastic Zone. Even the new College Library, has been built to save energy; with a large atrium, bringing light into all the floors of the building.

Efforts to expand our environmental awareness through seminars and other means have also been done, and we have been rated by EarthSmiles.net PlanetPoints as ESR4, or highly planet-friendly institution.

Some of our new projects to make the College even greener and environmentally responsible are:

WATER RECYCLING PROJECT
It is a tearful and frightening issue that within a few years we are going to face shortage of water because of the environmental imbalance and ecological crisis. In order to save our Mother Earth and hoping to maintain the water facility, a recycling project is passed by the staff and students and it is on progress. We waste plenty of water every day. How could we preserve it? After a long period of planning it is passed and is on progress. The aim of this project is the reuse or recycling of the waste water by filtering process. We hope, through this idea we can preserve water in our campus for the security of Mother Earth.

NEW POND FOR WATER HARVESTING
Of the available water on Earth, three percent is fresh water in rivers, lakes, glaciers and underground streams. Unfortunately people everywhere have become greedy consumers of water without realizing that it is essential for the survival of all the creatures on the earth. Keeping this in mind Fr. Rector took initiative to dig a new pond for water harvesting. It is a plan to harvest rain water and use for various purposes.

FRANCISCAN FOREST
M.S.C is deeply taken up by the spirituality of St. Francis and many classes on ecology have encouraged all the brothers to express their love and show concern for earth. First of all it was a plan of Fr. Rector to develop a Franciscan forest in one corner of the MSC campus. The work has been started and all the brothers love to visit and help each other to plant various kinds of trees and give the place a forest shape. The Brothers and Staff could sit in Meditation and prayer in this Franciscan Forest which would resemble the eco-centres like Tarumitra (Patna) and Matridham (Varanasi) where brothers could experience God and become more eco-friendly.
