A NEW FACILITY IS BUILT ON THE MSRS+C CAMPUS - HERE'S OUR NEW LIBRARY VISION
Our Seminary Library currently contains about 50,000 volumes on various subjects. The Library gets about 200 Journals and Magazines of which 150 are from India and 50 from abroad. The books were stacked on three floors in the central part of the building which were not originally constructed to bear this weight. The space was dark, there was no room for study and ventilation was poor. On the whole, the previous arrangement lacked the necessary environment for serious study and research.

The need:

The need for a new Library Block was a long-felt need. The previous Library situated in the central section of the building, did not have internal passages and inside staircases from one floor to the other. Being in the centre of the building which is a House of Formation, access to the outsiders was restricted and when they do come it was sometimes a disturbance. Hence, in the year 2008, the Governing Board of Bishops decided to construct a new State-of-the-Art Library to facilitate in making this institution a school of excellence. This “Dream Project” of the Ruby Jubilee is now in the process of completion.Though the work is still in the process we inaugurated it on the 29th June the beginning of the new Academic Year 2011-2012.

The new building:
The new Library building which is in the process of completion, has three floors with twenty two thousand and five hundred square feet space, with a lot of natural lighting and ventilation. The entire library has been planned into three sections; each section with its own special characteristics.
First Section: Includes the Reception Area, Search Counters, New Arrivals Section and Administrative Offices: · Reception · Offices of the Librarian, Assistant Librarian and Superintendent · Book Processing Section and Data Feeding Section · New Arrivals · Search Counters meant for Electronic Search · Utility services like: i) Photocopying ii) Internet iii) Binding iv) A room for afternoon break v) Toilet · Pamphlet Library · Newspaper Reading Area · Property Counter
Second Section: Includes Periodicals Library, Digital Library, Reference Room and the Bound-Periodicals’ Section. This is a restricted area only for those who have an Digital Secure ID Card. Taking one’s personal belongings except one’s laptop are strictly prohibited. One is expected to observe absolute silence in this area. One has access to this area by swiping his/her authorised Identity card.
Third Section: Is the Book library in which all the books that can be borrowed by the members, are stacked. Entry into this section is restricted to prescribed times only. For more details visit the Library page
